How a visit works
We come to you and check what your computer has, what it can take and whether an upgrade is worth it. If it is, we quote the parts and either fit them there and then or collect the machine and bring it back upgraded and ready to use.
For SSD upgrades we clone your existing Windows, programs and files onto the new drive, so you sit down to the same computer, just much faster.
Windows 11
Windows 10 is no longer supported by Microsoft with regular security updates, so moving to Windows 11 matters. We check whether your computer is compatible, take a backup, upgrade it and make sure your printer, email and programs all still work afterwards.
If your machine cannot run Windows 11, we will say so and talk you through the options, including a refurbished or custom-built replacement with your data moved across.

What it costs
Upgrades are covered by a Home Repair Visit at £45.00 for a 1 hour engineer visit, or a Business Repair Visit at £55.00 for a 1 and a half hour engineer visit for office machines.
All parts, such as SSDs, memory or graphics cards, are quoted before any work starts, so you know the full cost up front.

Is an SSD upgrade worth it on an old laptop?
In most cases, yes. Moving from a traditional hard drive to an SSD is the single biggest speed improvement you can make, and it usually costs far less than a new laptop. We check your machine first and tell you honestly.
Will I lose my programs and files when upgrading to Windows 11?
No. An in-place upgrade keeps your files, programs and settings. We take a backup first regardless, then check everything works once the upgrade is finished.
My computer says it cannot run Windows 11. What now?
Sometimes a small settings change or a memory or SSD upgrade is all that is needed. If the hardware really is too old, we can supply a refurbished or custom-built PC and move all your files across.
