How a visit works
First, stop using the drive. The less it is written to, the better the chances. Then give us a call. We come to you, assess the drive and tell you honestly what is likely to be recoverable.
Where the drive is still readable we copy your files to a safe location on the spot. Trickier cases are taken back to the workbench and returned with your recovered data on a new drive or your new computer.

Backups that just work
Once your files are safe we set up a backup that runs on its own. For most homes that means cloud backup for photos and documents. For businesses we set up backups of computers and servers to the cloud or a local drive and check they are actually working.
What it costs
Data recovery and backup setup are covered by a Home Repair Visit at £45.00 for a 1 hour engineer visit, or a Business Repair Visit at £55.00 for a 1 and a half hour engineer visit for business machines.
Any replacement drives, backup drives or cloud storage are quoted before any work starts. If a drive is physically damaged and needs a specialist lab, we will tell you before anything is sent away.

My laptop will not turn on. Are my photos gone?
Usually not. In most cases the drive is fine and it is the laptop that has failed. We remove the drive and copy your files to a new computer or an external drive.
Can you recover files from a drive that is clicking?
A clicking drive is a mechanical fault, so switch it off straight away. We can sometimes recover data from a drive like this, but in serious cases a specialist lab is needed. We will assess it and give you an honest answer before any cost is involved.
What is the best way to back up my photos?
For most people an automatic cloud backup is the simplest and safest option, because it keeps working without you having to remember. We set it up, check it is running and show you how to find your files.
